Being a Tourist in Steamboat Springs

Sometimes it's fun to pretend to be a tourist in your home town...especially if your home town is Steamboat Springs!  There is so much to do here all year long.

Steamboat is the perfect place to vacation if you've got children of any age.  We've been rated North America's #1 Family Resort.  There is skiing in the winter.  And there are classes to learn to ski if you are just learning or need a refresher course.

We've got great biking/hiking trails.  You can enjoy spending time with the family while getting some great exercise and enjoying Steamboat's breathtaking mountain views.  There is a trail for all levels of bikers.  I especially enjoy the Yampa River Core Trail.  It's about seven miles and follows the Yampa River through downtown Steamboat Springs.  Be sure to take a picnic basket, there are several great spots to sit and enjoy a meal.  There are also many playgrounds and parks that you can easily get to while on the Core Trail.

I don't know if everyone reading this likes to shop, but if you do, we've got some
great local shops.  Just stroll down main street and enjoy browsing in all the local boutiques.  You'll find lots of artwork, fashion, decorations, furniture, and unique items that are sure to catch you attention...and maybe a little of your pocket book.

Do not visit Steamboat Springs without going to the Hot Springs.  They are so relaxing that you won't want to leave.  It's a great way to sooth sore muscles if you have enjoyed skiing or biking a little longer than you should have!

If you happen to visit Steamboat in the summer, I recommend tubing the Yampa River.  This is something my family loves!  Don't forget your sunscreen.

There is so much more I could tell you about Steamboat Springs.  We've got great restaurants.  We are known for our annual rodeo.  The people here are amazing.  I am so blessed to call Steamboat Springs my home!
