Not sure that this home is the "right fit" for this little fellow |
When you are looking to purchase a new home, it's not just about the house plan and the amenities. Finding a new home is about finding a place that fits YOUR lifestyle.
A young lady grew up in a rural area on a farm. As I talked to her, I found out that she had lots of ideas about how her first home might look, but she was certain that she wanted to live in a neighborhood. As much as she loved growing up on a farm, she wanted to experience living near people. She wanted to be able to walk outside and as she put it "see something other than a cow". She was surprised to learn that living in a neighborhood would require her to abide by the neighborhood association rules, but she decided it was worth it to be able to do things like walk down a street and interact with people that she hoped would one day become friends. She also wanted her children to be able to walk out their door and have other children to play with.
One man could not live in a neighborhood. The thought of being that close to so many people makes him crazy. When he built his home, he was looking for lots and lots of acreage. He wanted to be able to sit on his front porch, drink his coffee, and just enjoy the quiet.
A newly married couple I helped wanted their new home to be right in the middle of the action with little or no upkeep. They decided that a condominium would be perfect because they didn't want to deal with the yard work. They also liked that they could get a condo right downtown and that they would be walking distance from shopping and restaurants. Plus, they could drive to work in less than 10 minutes.
There are many reasons that people choose a certain home, but location is a priority to most of my clients. Deciding what type of community you want to live in is one of the first steps in beginning your new home search.
