Cattle from my sister's ranch |
I thought I would take just a little time and talk about the community where I was blessed to grow up....or "raised". My dad was a logger so I did not get raised on a farm but I did grow up in a farming community.
Little Miss Catfish |
Although we did not technically have a farm or ranch, my dad had a little land where he kept horses, pigeons, chickens, goats, and sometimes rabbits. As a little girl, it sure felt like a farm to me. My sisters and I learned to ride horses and fear chickens. Have you ever had a chicken chase you? It's scarier than you think! Here's a little advice: Don't try to pick up a baby chick with it's mama standing near you. Trust me, it won't turn out well for you.
My sisters, friends, and Me |
I have so many good memories of growing up in a rural community and I have such respect for our farmers. I don't know any of them that work just a 40 hour week. They are some of the hardest working people I know.
